Heidi Adams
School-Based Mental Health Liaison Intern

Heidi Adams is a third-year graduate student at Carson-Newman University pursuing a dual degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and School Counseling. She currently serves as a School-Based Mental Health Liaison intern with Jefferson County Schools, working primarily with elementary and middle school students.
Heidi utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) to support students in building resilience, problem-solving skills, and emotional growth. Her approach is strengths-based and client-centered, with a focus on helping young people develop practical skills that support long-term success.
Heidi is certified in Psychological First Aid (PFA), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), and Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST). She also incorporates music and art-based interventions to create engaging, developmentally appropriate therapeutic experiences tailored to each student’s needs.
